
UPDATED: A man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a road traffic incident near Thorness Bay overnight.
A white Ford Transit van left the carriageway and ploughed into a hedge lining a field on Rolls Hill between Gurnard and Thorness Bay at sometime around midnight.
Thankfully no body was injured in the incident, however the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody at Newport Police Station after providing a positive breath sample.
UPDATE @ 15:10 – 27-year-old Daniel Glynn of Howden Close, Derbyshire has been charged with a number of offences including aggravated vehicle taking without the consent of the owner; drink driving; driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
He is set to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday 18th July.
