UPDATED: Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat and Inshore lifeboat have both launched on service this evening (Tuesday).
The D-class Inshore lifeboat has been tasked by Solent Coastguard to assist a 25ft motor cruiser that’s become stuck on Bembridge Ledge. A tow has now been established and the casualty vessel is being taken into Bembridge Harbour.
Meanwhile Bembridge’s All Weather Lifeboat has also been launched, with the call coming in at 15:46 – just 8 minutes after the first shout. The lifeboat is aiding a 33ft vessel ‘Offshore Rebel’ suffering from mechanical problems to the south of Selsey.
The volunteer crew of Bembridge Lifeboat have established a tow with the ‘moonraker’ boat and are expected to take the vessel into a mainland harbour.
UPDATE @ 21:35 – The 25ft motor cruiser ‘Musn’t Grumble’ has been safely moored at Bembridge Harbour. Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team met with the crew earlier this evening.
‘Offshore Rebel’ was handed over to Portsmouth RNLI by Bembridge ALB at the entrance to Langstone Harbour at around 20:00.
Both Bembridge lifeboats have now rehoused and are ready for service.
