Police have made 2 arrests after a group of men, reportedly seen with baseball bats and metal poles, attempted to gain entry to an address in Ventnor last night (Friday).
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were first called at 21:14 following reports that a group of men were attempting to gain entry to a property on Albert Street.
It was reported to Police that the man had been seen with baseball bats and metal poles.
At the scene, officers arrested a 28-year-old and a 30-year-old – both from Newport – on suspicion of aggravated burglary. They both remain in Police custody at this time.
No one was injured during the incident, Police have confirmed.
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson has said:
“An investigation into this incident is ongoing and our enquiries are ongoing today (Saturday).”
All scum drugs what will happen nothing.
When we moved here 27 years ago, it was everything the mainland was not. Now we have as much crime and drug problems as everywhere else and much of it is home grown. So perhaps it is time to look inward and TRY to stop this behaviour with stiffer sentences, better policing and everyone reporting what they see to the Police. Drugs are the scourge of the island and as a great deal of the ‘smoking’ bush was grown on the Island we should have predicted this, but it was easier to just blame overners coming here. Our problems are huge, and we ALL need to act, and to act NOW.
Lets be honest, if anyone arrested last night had posted an anti religious comment, or held up a banner against the Police they would have had a complaint against them, been in court this morning and serving 4 years by tea time.
The Island is full of scumbags thesedays,
it was a much safer place over 50 years ago
The good old days.
Bang the B’stards up.
While they are in custody, burgle their homes and see if they like it.
