The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance has touched down in the West Wight in response to a medical emergency this morning (Monday).
Paramedics and Police were called to Middle Road between Tapnell and Chessell shortly before 08:45.
Island Echo understands that an individual has suffered a medical episode – potentially behind the wheel of a vehicle – and is receiving treatment at the side of the road.
Passers-by say that it does not appear any crash has occurred.
Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance has in the last few moments landed in a field beside the carriageway at Shalcombe.
UPDATE @ 10:40 – A spokesperson for Friends of Freshwater Fire Station has said:
“Freshwater Fire Station CoRo, Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance working together after an adult male patient suffered a medical episode near Tapnell this morning.”
