Wight Noize is back for 2022, giving young musicians on the Isle of Wight the opportunity to perform their original music at the Isle of Wight Festival in June.
The Wight Noize initiative was conceived by Platform One, who have continuously developed opportunities for young bands, artists, and musicians, resident on the Island. Wight Noize supports emerging performers, who are actively seeking to take the next steps into the industry.
Anyone wishing to take part need do is to submit a simple form with links to audio, video, and online promotion.
An industry panel will decide on 1 act that deserves to play on the main stage on the Sunday of the Festival. The act will receive full VIP treatment as well as the opportunity to play on the Platform One Stage during the weekend. This will also include the production of a ‘behind the scenes’ documentary, thanks to a new working relationship Rueben Mowle and Platform One.
Director of Platform One David Pontin says:
“We are excited to see the return of the live music showcase for the shortlisted winners this year. All submissions will be viewed by an industry panel who will carefully select acts that are ready to perform at such an iconic festival. Shortlisted artists and bands will be invited to play a live showcase at Strings Bar & Venue on Saturday 14th May, to a panel of industry guests. 1 artist/band will be selected to open the Sunday of this year’s Festival on the main stage, with the runner’s up being offered a performance slot on the ‘Platform One Stage’, which is based in the main arena again this year.
“This is such a unique opportunity for island bands to get involved with, and we are excited to see what new music the 2022 Wight Noize applications bring us.”

Platform One College of Music has been involved in the Isle of Wight Festival since its rebirth in 2002. Opportunities for young musicians at the festival have evolved each year thanks to the commitment of Managing Director John Giddings, who is one of Platform One patrons.
John has said:
“I am very proud to be a patron of Platform One. I think they do an incredible job of preparing young musicians for the reality of the music industry. I like helping people, and my work with Platform One feels the right thing to do: they have integrity, and they are good at what they do.”
New for 2022: The winning Wight Noize act will also gain a release strategy session, free digital distribution, an influencer marketing campaign (matching the winner’s music to YouTube influencers), and a performance slot at a London-based Autumn showcase event, courtesy of SyncVault.
