UPDATED: A power cut is affecting 187 postcode areas in the South Wight this evening (Friday).
At around 17:20 supplies were was lost in Chale, Niton, Whitwell and areas of Ventnor, just as many households started cooking dinner. The fault is predominately affecting the PO38 1 and PO38 2 postcodes, however some PO30 3, PO30 4 and PO36 0 postcodes have also lost power in what appears to be a separate fault which arose at 13:45.
Southern and Scottish Energy Power Distribution say they have engineers working on the fault and it is anticipated electricity supplies will be restored by 19:30.
UPDATE @ 18:40 – Power has now been restored to the majority of properties in the South Wight, however many remain without electricity as darkness falls.
Postcodes still without power include PO38 1AD; PO38 1BP; PO38 1LJ and PO38 2AA.
In addition, the following areas are also without power, with supplies expected to be restored by 22:00: PO30 3LH; PO30 3LJ; PO30 3LU; PO30 3LX; PO30 4AA; PO30 4AB; PO30 4AD; PO30 4AE; PO30 4AG; PO30 4BB; PO30 4BP; PO30 4BS; PO30 4BU; PO30 4BY; PO30 4BZ; PO30 4DA; PO30 4DB; PO30 4DS; PO30 4EY; PO30 4PG; PO30 4PL; PO30 4PN; PO30 4PW; PO38 2JD; PO38 2JH; PO38 2LF; PO38 2LG; PO38 2LH; PO38 2LN; PO38 2LQ; PO38 2LR and PO38 2LW.
UPDATE @ 22:30 – Power has now been restored to all properties.
