DINETH THIMODYA SCORES 151 RUNS FOR VENTNOR: ISLE OF WIGHT CRICKET ROUND UP

Ventnor Cricket ClubVentnor’s Sri Lankan all rounder Dineth Thimodya scored 151 runs for Ventnor in their Southern Premier Division 1 match against Sparsholt at Steephill on Saturday (14th May).

Dineth hit 17 4s and 8 6s in his massive century-and-a-half knock. Ventnor, batting 1st, reached a total of 294 off 46 overs.

In reply, Sparsholt managed 251 from their 50 overs. Thimodya was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers with 2-40. Charlie Calloway and Ross Wyte also picked up a brace of wickets.

Ventnor’s 43-run victory leaves them joint 2nd in Southern Premier Division 1 with 43 points from 2 games, 1 point behind leaders Portsmouth.

Ryde 158 Burridge 2nd XI 266-7

In Hampshire Division 1, Ryde won the toss and elected to field in their match against Burridge at Harding Shute. Burridge made 266 in their 50 overs with Sam Rockley the best of the Ryde bowlers with 3-35.

Ryde made 158 in reply with Ellis Ridett top scoring with 32 runs to lose by 108 runs.

Portsmouth & Southsea 2nd XI 239 Shanklin & Godshill 252-5

Losing the toss, Shanklin were asked to bat and reached a total of 252-5. Ollie Niemiec made 64 from 78 balls, including 8 4s and a 6. Captain Ben White scored 130 not out from 106 balls stroking 17 4s and 3 6s.

Portsmouth fell 13 runs short, being bowled out in the final over for 239. Shanklin collected 24 points for their victory and have won both games in their season to date.

Kerala 2nd XI 142 Ventnor 2nd XI 146-4

Kerala were bowled out for a total of 142 runs in their innings. Rob Snell was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers with 4-20; Toby Noyes also picked up 4 wickets.

Ventnor took just 23 overs to match the Kerala total with Snell top scoring with 88 not out, including 11 4s and 6 6s.

United Services Portsmouth 172 Ryde 2nd XI 226-5

Ryde picked up 226 runs in their 45 overs with Andy Day top scoring with 91 runs and Tom Roscoe reaching 70 not out.

US Portsmouth were bowled out for 172 in reply. Ben Wadmore was the pick of the Ryde bowlers with 5-28 with James Williams also taking 3 wickets.

Arreton 168-6 Newport 200-9

Newport batted 1st and reached a total of 200-9 with Ryan Young top scoring with 68 runs and Ashley Brett (56) also making a half-century. James Curtis had the best bowling figures for Arreton with 3-17.

Arreton made 168-6 in reply with Gary and Kevin Cooper both scoring half-centuries. Aaron Hartup had the best bowling figures for Newport with 2-21.
