Isle of Wight Defibrillators have installed their latest public access defibrillator at Sandford Garage, located on the main road from Godshill to Shanklin.
The potentially life-saving device has been kindly funded by Inspiration Fabrication, located in Sandford.
The defibrillator is sited on the outside shop garage wall. If ever needed in an emergency, the access code to the cabinet is given by the emergency service upon 999 being called.
A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it’s an essential part in trying to save the life of someone in cardiac arrest.
If you see someone having a cardiac arrest, call 999, start CPR, and get someone to find a defibrillator. The emergency operator can advise you if there is no defibrillator nearby.
