A Mini has sustained front-end damage in an early hours crash on Park Road in Wootton this morning (Wednesday). Emergency services – including Police, fire and ambulance crews – were called to the busy cut-through route between Lushington Hill and Briddlesford Road at around 04:10. The incident at dawn occurred on the bridge at Palmers Brook. No serious injuries have been sustained and Island Echo is told just 1 vehicle was involved. Officers are searching the car as a matter of course, including a rooftop box full of festival-related camping equipment, which doesn’t appear to have been attached to the roof of the car. Recovery has been arranged and the road is expected to reopen shortly. UPDATE @ 09:07 – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 47-year-old man from Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs. He is currently in police custody.
