A lively and heartfelt dance fitness event in Sandown has raised £560 for Alzheimer’s Cafes Isle of Wight, thanks to the energetic efforts of 35 members and friends of Ali’s Fitness Fusion.
Led by guest presenter Philip Quigley of Quigley’s Theatre School in Kent, the session featured a dynamic routine to the Bee Gees classic ‘I Should Be Dancing’ from Saturday Night Fever.
The themed event, titled ‘Saturday Night Fever, Sunday Morning Remedy’, brought fun, fitness and fundraising together in one vibrant celebration.
This marks Philip’s second visit to the Isle of Wight to work with the group, and organisers say he’s already looking forward to returning again.
Ali’s Fitness Fusion is run by Ali Hinde, who is now joined by fellow instructors Lisa Cooper, Freya Woodford and Sally Chaucer. Together, they run inclusive, upbeat fitness classes across several community venues in Camp Hill, Carisbrooke, Arreton, Cowes, Wootton and Binstead. Sessions include FitSteps, Rockbox, DanceAttack and Pilates, with members ranging in age from 18 to 86.
Beyond fitness, the group places a strong emphasis on social connection and community spirit, holding regular charity events throughout the year – often in support of Island causes.
Organiser Ali Hinde has thanked everyone who took part and supported the event, saying the group is proud to contribute to such a meaningful local charity.
