Fire crews are responding to a fire at Mountbatten’s charity warehouse in Newport this lunchtime (Monday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised 3 appliances and an Aerial Ladder Platform to the incident on Riverway.
Breathing apparatus has been donned with firefighters entering the commercial premises to locate, contain and extinguish the fire, which is thought to be centred around the lower rear section of the building.
Staff have been evacuated, with Mountbatten confirming to Island Echo that everyone is out and safe.
It comes just hours after another commercial premises fire on the industrial estate. It was just gone 10:00 this morning that firefighters responded to ISM Solutions where a small piece of machinery had caught fire.
UPDATE @ 15:00 – Mountbatten has confirmed that the warehouse has reopened this afternoon, however they are not taking an donations for the rest of the day.
