A collision involving 2 motorcycles has led to a traffic light being damaged at one of the Island’s busiest junctions tonight (Sunday).
Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are currently on scene at Westridge Cross in Ryde having been mobilised at just before 23:00.
It’s at the 4-way junction that 2 motorcyclists have been involved in a road traffic collision, with 1 of the bikes coming into contact with a traffic light – which is now bent at an angle.
The riders are said to have sustained minor injuries and are currently being checked over by paramedics.
Meanwhile, Police officers are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident and whether any offences have been committed.
Island Roads has been called to the scene of the crash to inspect the damage sustained to the street furniture. A repair at this junction could lead to temporary traffic lights being erected which will in turn impact significantly on traffic flows in the area.
The road remains open.
UPDATE – Police have confirmed that a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after last night’s incident.
He is expected to appear in court at a later date.
Another dangerous road, many Numpty’s travelling towards Ryde
from Tesco direction go straight across even though
vehicles are coming out of Great Preston Road.
I reckon a roundabout would work better at this cross.
Also install some Camera’s, it is nearly 2025 and CCTV,
Anpr and Camera’s are scarce on the island.
It’s nearly 2025 so it’s time you had a new hobby. Boring turdbrain
I am trying to educate Numpty Caulkheads
Who don’t know right from wrong.
Must be the inbreeding.
good..
God, you are so tiresome. And what’s with ‘Camera’s’?
Someone as to make the roads a safe place for
our children, you obviously don’t care about
safety.
Another baseless comment from the sad old sod from Seaview with limited vocabulary and parlous grammar
Don’t you like hearing the truth.
I will keep commenting until someone makes
our roads safe.
Happy New Year
Cameras don’t stop bad driving or law breaking. They merely record it.
Heavy fines and bans from Camera’s
recording speeding etc will keep our
roads safe.
“Persons unknown”, Well done, you have worked it out, maybe with a little help from someone. Of course they record what is happening, that is the idea. To record what happened and to see who was to blame for any offence. This also helps the police and cuts down wasted time trying to work out what happened.
My point is, camera’s or not, it does not and never will stop it from happening. Do you seriously expect that camera’s will be placed all along the military road for example (one of the major speeding spots)? Maybe they would if we all paid triple for our council tax. Now there’s a nice idea, eh malcoman?
“Sausage” If you cannot contribute to this reply page , without being rude and offensive to others that use it, I, for one, suggest that you go back into deep hibernation and keep your filthy mouth and comments to yourself. I thought that there were rules about this sort of behaviour??? Seems that I was wrong.
Great news for the New Year, just read on BBC NEWS
New 20mph Zones are being considered for the
Isle of Wight.
Thank you and well done to Cllr Jordan and Karen Lucioni
for making our Roads a safer place for everyone,
It’s been long overdue.
I look forward to it coming.
