UPDATED: A crash involving at least 2 vehicles has resulted in the main Sandown to Newport road becoming blocked near to Sandown Airport this afternoon (Friday).
A rapid response paramedic and several Police vehicles are currently in attendance at the scene on Newport Road between Morrisons Roundabout and Scotchells Brook Lane.
Island Echo understands a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a silver Renault Megane Scenic have been involved in the incident, which occurred at just before 15:20.
Southern Vectis Route 8 buses are delayed as a result.
UPDATE @ 17:05 – 1 person has sustained a knee injury in the incident, according to the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Bartletts Service Station have been called to the scene to recover the vehicles involved.
The road is expected to reopen shortly.
UPDATE @ 17:20 – The road has now reopened in both directions.
