Cowes have won the U14 Indoor League, overcoming Ventnor Hurricanes by just 7 runs in a rollercoaster of a final.
After making a slow start, thanks to a brilliant spell of 1-7 from Lucas’ 3 overs, the Cowes innings was injected with energy by a vital 13 from Jude. However, he was removed by Bede (1-26), before Liam took centre stage with a hard-hitting 26* as Cowes posted 87-4 from their 10 overs.
Openers Lucas (7) and Seb started well for Ventnor, but were removed by a quick catch from Jude off the bowling of Matthew (1-8) and a Josh stumping from Jude’s bowling (1-12). Noah and Neev then began to build a partnership, the Hurricanes reaching 61-2 with victory on the horizon.
However, Liam took 2-17 and a run out as both settled batters were dismissed for 9. Matthew also claimed a run out in a chaotic final over as the Ventnor Hurricanes were bowled out 7 runs short on 80 to give Cowes a memorable win.
The 2 sides will face each other again in the cup semi-finals on 21st March for a space in the final on 4th April.
