30-year-old Peter Kilshaw of Terminus Road, Cowes has been named as the victim of Wednesday’s fatal road traffic collision between Shalfleet and Porchfield.
As previously reported by Island Echo, emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on Corf Road at the junction of Town lane at around 17:50 on Wednesday evening.
Despite the best efforts of local paramedics and the HEMS team from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, Mr Kilshaw’s life could not be saved and he was declared dead at the scene. He is understood to have sustained devastating head injuries in the smash.
Peter’s family and long-term girlfriend have today (Friday) paid tribute to him. They said:
“Peter was a lovely lad who would do anything for anyone.
“He was gentle, loving and had a heart of gold. He was a serial prankster who always had us smiling, laughing and joking.
“He always strived to be his best and was a perfectionist. He will be sorely missed by his family, girlfriend and friends.”
Roads Policing Officers from the mainland are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances of the collision however it is known that Mr Kilshaw collided with a VW Bettle. The 62-year-old male driver escaped without injury.
