For the second day running, Cowes RNLI lifeboat had hardly returned to station from 1 rescue before it was tasked to another this afternoon (Saturday).
The first shout involved a 23ft yacht that reported engine trouble west of Norris Castle. The boat, ‘Mack the Knife’ with 2 people aboard, was duly towed by the lifeboat to Cowes Yacht Haven.
Then, just as the lifeboat had been winched on its trolley to the station entrance, another call came through – to assist 2 people aboard a 17ft RIB.
The RIB, without power and drifting in Osborne Bay, was towed to the Royal Victoria Yacht Club’s pontoon in Wootton Creek.
