There has been a surge in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the Isle of Wight, with 7 cases identified in the first 4 days of October.
The latest data from Public Health England has added a further 4 cases into the month of September, taking the month’s total to 44. That is 4.4x larger than the number of cases confirmed in August.
7 cases have been identified so far this month, between 1st – 4th October. Further cases are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
The total number of cases on the Isle of Wight since the start of the pandemic now sits at 484. However, this number does not represent the number of active cases – which is unknown.
As reported some hours ago on the .gov site >> another EIGHT cases since yesterday – now 484 total.
Well being that the PCR testing, used by our Gov, was never meant for testing respiratory illnesses, it is no wonder why.

The figures are based on your postcode. These people that have tested positive will all have an Island address.
I think what Brian means Andy is that if people with symptoms are coming here to be tested there is a chance they raise the probability of infecting residents if positive. Hard to prove but a theory.
With schools back and second home owners going backwards and forwards from the mainland it was always going to rise.

Pubs stop moaning about the curfew, just close, put up with it. You won’t stop people who are drunk, getting too close to each other, typical landlords moaning and about loss of business, maybe if they were run a little more responsibly they wouldn’t have to deal with there own error in the making.

I go out, I work and I have to put up with people everyday who are rude, arrogant and plainly refuse to wear masks, because they are “exempt” then promptly leave where I work and proceed to light up a fag, even after they say “I have breathing difficulties” STOP SMOKING THEN. And then there are those who just go against any sort of rules, if people go to pubs, they surely must drink there or else they wouldn’t go there, doh! You obviously are one of those who are precious, or maybe one of those who say “I’m not wearing a mask because I don’t want to!”

You make a good point. I am in Russia and here they announce the amount of people that have recovered, as well as deaths/cases. It certainly puts a different spin on things. Don’t obviously mention Russia though, as that will scare the news watching sheep on to the fear train even quicker!

Why are people so shocked to hear numbers of infections are increasing…… Because all the don’t give a fig people are the super spreaders of the virus. They may not get any symptoms, or they may get mild symptoms. Someone they infect could end up in hospital and not come out. This IS REALITY, not BS, not propaganda, not lies. So to all you disbelievers, wake up and understand how this virus spreads and who is spreading it. It’s tough for anyone who works in the hospitality industry but unfortunately this virus loves crowds and close contact amongst it hosts.

I watched coaches and camper vans coming off the Yarmouth ferry on Sunday, some of the coach passengers had masks on and some didn’t. I’m convinced that our numbers are going up because of the holiday makers.
