A local Isle of Wight councillor was airlifted to safety yesterday evening (Sunday) after becoming stuck on the cliff coastal path between St Lawrence and Niton.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team and Coastguard Rescue 104 helicopter from Lee-on-Solent were all tasked to the Undercliff area at around 16:45 after the male alerted HM Coastguard to his plight.
Thankfully, the unnamed councillor was uninjured and was airlifted to safety by the Coastguard helicopter. He did not need any medical assistance.
