UPDATED: CORDON ERECTED AS FIREFIGHTERS RUSH TO BEDROOM FIRE IN BINSTEAD BUNGALOW

Cordons have been erected on a residential road in Binstead this afternoon (Friday) where firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus have entered a property. 2 appliances from Ryde Fire Station were called to the scene on Greenway at around 13:45. At the scene, several firefighters have entered the residential dwelling and have used ventilation fans to rid the property of smoke. Island Echo understands that the incident occurred as a result of a faulty light fitting in a bedroom of the property, with thermal imaging cameras used to look for any hotspots. No casualties have been treated at the scene. UPDATE @ 15:00 – Greenway has now reopened with all appliances standing down.
