Hampshire & Isle of Wight’s Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable have answered questions from the public in an online forum, covering anti-social behaviour, police visibility, road safety and officer integrity.
Donna Jones hosted the COPS event (Commissioner’s Oversight of Policing Services), which streamed live across 3 Facebook pages: the PCC’s own page, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner; and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.
The hour-long session on Thursday night (2nd October) attracted over 160 pre-submitted questions and dozens more during the live chat.
Police visibility, anti-social behaviour, e-scooters and road safety were the most popular topics.
There were also questions on serious violence, police recruitment, and officer integrity.
PCC Donna Jones said:
“COPS is a fantastic way for us to engage directly with communities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It allows us to provide answers and reassurance on the crimes and the issues that matter most to people across our two counties.
“As Police Commissioner, my top priorities are to listen to residents and businesses, and to hold the Chief Constable to account. I am focussed on ensuring that Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary delivers effective, visible policing that drives down crime and makes our communities safer.

Any improvements are a plus, IW Council can help
tackle road crime by getting Island Roads to install
speed humps and also install speed cameras.
Devolution is a plus for the island going forward.
I don’t suppose either of them saw the irony of discussing police visibility on an online stream? We need actual sworn police officers on foot patrol in full view. Nothing less will do.
