Hovertravel has been forced to suspend its cross-Solent service this morning (Friday) due to a technical issue, with both of its Flyer craft out of service.
The 07:15 from Ryde to Southsea has failed to operate, with all crossings expected to be cancelled until at least 08:00, when an update will be provided.
A technical issue with Solent Flyer has been blamed for the disruption, which is hitting commuters particularly hard. However, tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s Fastcat service between Ryde Pier Head-Portsmouth Harbour.
Hovertravel’s Island Flyer – the second craft in the fleet – is not available for operations
UPDATE @ 08:11 – Services remain suspended this morning, with the next update due at 09:00.
UPDATE @ 10:42 – Services remain suspended this morning, with the next update due at 11:00.
UPDATE @ 11:42 – Hovertravel’s service has now resumed.

Makes one wonder if these solent operators are taking it
in turns to p*ss off holidaymakers.
What with Red Funnel yesterday, now Hovertravel.
They are leaving customers de-flated.
Lol
It’s the bank holiday weekend, with Victorious Festival on Southsea Common, the scooter rally, events in Ryde, and the children’s carnival on Saturday. Yet, Hovertravel has only one faulty hovercraft available for operations. This shows it is not a serious company, nor one likely to survive much longer.
Time for a Bridge or Tunnel
Oh for fuck sake give it up…
Time for this service to go same for Dead funnel.
Happens every Bank Holiday. Hovertravel really is ‘the pits’, and all its ‘alleged’ awards are travesties
