92 members of Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club set off in pursuit of the Royal British Legion’s Commemorative Golf Medal earlier this month.

On Saturday 11th November club members gathered in the car park to observe the 2 minute silence to honour the fallen of the Great War and the loss of those in the conflicts that have so tragically followed.

At 11:15 the claxon sounded and the Am-Am competition began.

The winners in the Ladies’ section were Chris Gould, Angela Lassey, Linda Piche and Viv Williams with 108 points.  In the Mixed, the winners were Debbie Berry, Shawn Ford, Neil Hallett and Hazel Smith with 122 points. The winners of the RBL Commemorative Golf Medal, with a score of 123 points, was the Men’s team comprising of Chris Beard, Paul Hawkins, Peter Rush and Mark Trueman.

The event, under the auspices of the Royal British Legion and organised by Club Captain Neil Hallett and Ladies’ Captain Debbie Berry, raised over £900 for the RBL.
