UPDATED: The Island’s volunteer search and rescue organisation, WightSAR, are this afternoon (Monday) conducting a search of the Bonchurch Landslip area alongside HM Coastguard, as they join the search for a missing man from London.
As previously reported by Island Echo, 45-year-old Robert Gibson went missing from his home address in London on Monday 13th June and was spotted traveling to the Island via Wightlink’s catamaran service that evening. He has not been seen since.
Coastguard rescue officers from Bembridge and Ventnor are searching the area surrounding ‘Devil’s Chimney’, alongside search operatives from WightSAR and Police dog handlers from the Thames Valley.
Anyone who has any information relating to Mr ‘s disappearance is asked to contact Police on 101. In an emergency dial 999.
UPDATE: Search teams have been stood down from Bonchurch this evening. Nothing was found.
