Investigations are underway into an incident of anti-social behaviour in Ryde in which a number of boats were untied from their moorings at Ryde Marina. Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team was mobilised to Ryde Sands yesterday morning (Sunday) to reports of an unattended vessel aground. It soon transpired that it was 1 of several boats that had been moored up in the nearby marina – formerly Ryde Harbour. For reasons unknown, mooring lines are thought to have been untied at some point between Saturday night and Sunday morning allowing the boats to float free and out into the Solent. CCTV footage is now thought to be under review to identify those involved. The vessel aground on the sands – and other vessels set free – have since been recovered by their owners.
