CHRISTMAS CHEER AND THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES FUND NEW SHANKLIN DEFIBRILLATOR

A new public access defibrillator has been unveiled on Shanklin Esplanade thanks to funds raised by the Long Lane Christmas Lights display and The Island Savoyards.

At the beginning of May it was reported by Island Echo that a potentially life-saving public access defibrillator (PAD) had been installed at Culver Down as a result of the monies raised by Terry and Sue Ramplin’s Christmas lights display at Long Lane in Newport.

Amazingly, the generous donations received throughout December 2017 have been enough to purchase a second PAD, which this time has been allocated to The Fisherman’s Cottage at Shanklin.

Every outdoor defibrillator needs a box to keep it secure and warm and that’s where The Island Savoyards – a leading Amateur Dramatics company – have come in. Money they have raised in recent months has funded the bright yellow box, which is now situated on the exterior wall of the popular pub at the far end of the Esplanade near to Shanklin Chine.

The exterior box has been installed courtesy of Lemlec Electrical Contractors.
