CHIP PAN FIRE LEAVES WOMAN WITH BURNS

pumpambulancegillscliffroadUPDATED: Firefighters from Ryde and Ventnor are attending a kitchen fire at a property in Ventnor this evening (Saturday). 

Crews were called to the residential dwelling on Gills Cliff Road at 19:44 with a retained fire crew from Ventnor first on scene.

Breathing apparatus and a hose reel have been used to tackle the fire and remove a chip pan from the property. The fire, which has been contained to the kitchen area, has been extinguished.

One female has suffered from burns and smoke inhalation and is currently receiving medical attention from paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

UPDATE @ 20:55 – Fire crews have now left the scene. 

Meanwhile, firefighters from Newport are working to free a gentleman trapped in a lift at The Co-Operative multi storey car park in Newport.
