UPDATED: Paramedics are this morning (Tuesday) in attendance in Niton after a child is reported to have been hit by a car.
Emergency services were called to the scene outside the village’s shop on Newport Road at the junction with Rectory Road shortly before 11:00.
Witnesses have told Island Echo that the child, believed to be 10-years-old, has been struck by an Audi.
Officers from the Island’s Roads Policing Unit are also in attendance.
The young boy is not believed to have suffered any life-threatening injuries.
UPDATE @ 11:54 – The 10-year-old boy has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport for treatment of a broken leg.
The road remains open.
