A marathon football match in aid of charity has been cancelled due to a unexpected fixture clash Organisers were hoping to break the record for the world’s longest football match by playing over 60 hours a football, however a postponed league match in the Wessex League has meant that the East Cowes Vics’ ground is no longer available. The league match between East Cowes Vics and Warminster has been reorganised by league officials to be played on Saturday, putting the charity event without a pitch. Efforts to move the event to other grounds has been unsuccessful due to staffing issues. The karaoke and disco will still be held on Friday and Saturday night respectively and a raffle and fancy dress competition will continue. It is now hoped that the 60 hour match can be rescheduled for the August bank holiday.
