A kayaker participating in a round the island charity challenge has been rescued by the volunteer crew of Ryde Inshore Rescue this afternoon (Friday).
Solent Coastguard were informed that the individual was struggling in the choppy conditions and had become separated from the rest of his group at just before 14:30, prompting the tasking of Ryde Rescue 2 lifeboat.
The casualty and his well-equipped friends set off from Yaverland this morning and are working their way around the Island to raise funds for The Little Princess Trust.
Ryde Rescue 2 has taken the casualty and his kayak into Ryde Harbour, where the lifeboat is to be recovered.
The tired but well kayaker has rejoined his group and they are expected to continue their journey in due course.
