Carisbrooke College has raised more than £1,250 for the Wight Brainy Bunch Charity during its fifth annual Santa Dash, held yesterday (Friday)
Organised by Mrs Peake, the festive event saw 250 students take part in the charity run, all wearing Santa hats as they made the journey from Carisbrooke College to Carisbrooke Castle and back.
Upon their return, participants were awarded a commemorative medal and treated to a hot chocolate to warm up after the run.
The event has now raised a total of £4,785 since its launch, with this year’s dash marking the most successful to date in terms of both turnout and fundraising.
Staff from Carisbrooke College and students from The Island VI Form volunteered on the day, assisting with marshalling duties and helping to ensure the safety of those taking part.
Members of the public also turned out to show their support along the route, cheering on the runners as they passed by.
Organisers have thanked all involved for making the event a success and for helping end the school term on a festive and charitable note.
