UPDATED: A car has come to rest on its side on Knighton Shute near Newchurch this evening (Tuesday).
Emergency services are currently on scene having been called to the single-vehicle incident just off The Downs at around 17:25.
Thankfully, the male driver of the silver Vauxhall Astra has escaped any injury.
Rather unusually, it has taken almost 30 minutes for the fire appliance from Newport to arrive on scene after struggling to locate the incident, travelling first towards Sandown and then Ashey. On this occasion the assistance of the fire service has not been required and the appliance has now been stood down.
The vehicle is being recovered by Stag Lane Motors.
UPDATE @ 18:50 – The incident has now been cleared and the road remains open as normal.
