asheyroadpoliceclosedgarageUPDATED: A car has rolled onto its roof after colliding with a bank during an overtaking manoeuvre on Ashey Road on the outskirts of Ryde this afternoon (Tuesday) 

The road has been closed in both directions at Smallbrook Roundabout and the junction with Deacons Lane whilst emergency services deal with the incident, which has occurred by Ashey Garage prior to the railway bridge.

Amazingly, no one has been injured in the crash, which has involved a Mini Cooper. A second vehicle, which was being overtaken at the time of the incident at just gone 14:30, has since left the scene having provided a statement.

Police and paramedics at the scene of the crash. Recovery of the vehicle has been arranged.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area with traffic heavy on surrounding roads.

UPDATE @ 15:45 – Ashey Road has reopened in both directions ahead of this evening’s rush hour.

The vehicle, a modified modern Mini Cooper, has been recovered by Bartletts Service Station.
