CAR ROLLS ON ROOF BLOCKING MAIN ROAD BETWEEN GODSHILL AND WHITWELL

A car has overturned onto its roof blocking the main road between Godshill and Whitwell this lunchtime (Thursday). Police are en-route to the incident on Whitwell Road, between the junctions of Sheepwash Lane and Southford Lane. The silver hatchback – a Ford KA – appears to have ended up on the wrong side of the road, colliding with the grass verge before overturning. Debris has been left scattered across the carriageway. The road is currently blocked in both directions, which will impact on those heading to Whitwell and onwards to Ventnor. UPDATE @ 13:00 – Recovery of the vehicle has been arranged. Thankfully, no injuries have been sustained and no other vehicles have been involved. UPDATE @ 13:30 – The road has now re-opened in both directions.
