A car has left the carriageway and subsequently rolled into a field on Stroudwood Road tonight (Tuesday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has been called to the scene between Ryde and Havenstreet, where it is thought at least 1 person has sustained an arm injury after the vehicle – a Citroen C3 – left the road.
It is understood that no other vehicles have been involved in the incident, which occurred at around 22:25.
UPDATE @ 22:58 – Local police officers are now on the scene, but the driver is not with the vehicle.
It appears the car left the road at speed on the exit of a long right hand bend and rolled at least once, emptying the contents of the boot into a field containing ponies.
The vehicle is expected to be recovered at a later date.
The road remains open in both directions.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving following last night’s single vehicle collision.
The individual was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Madness, just lucky there was no car coming from the opposite direction…doesn’t bare thinking about what might have happened.
The Island has become a very dangerous place to drive now, too many impatient aggressive drivers, I have no idea why it’s got a lot worse over the last few years.
The question is, why did they do a runner ?
Could be no insurance, or perhaps the driver was on drink and drugs that if tested would result in a prosecution.
It’s become an epidemic when it comes to drivers taking drugs or drink driving. But I have noticed some Island drivers have become more aggressive and impatient over the last few years.
If you’re drunk and get caught, loose licence. If you ran away and lie saying car was stolen. You get away with it. Hard to prove either way.
If you read the report a Drug driving
Single vehicle ‘accident’ AGAIN
It’s amazing how many cars just fall off the road on the Island.
