UPDATED: A car has overturned and come to rest on its side at Arreton near the junction with Downend this afternoon (Tuesday).
Emergency services are currently responding to the incident, which has occurred close to Arreton Barns at Arreton Cross. They were called at 15:06.
Motorists are advised to find an alternative route.
UPDATE @ 15:45 – No one has been trapped or seriously injured in the incident, which has involved a maroon coloured Volvo.
One fire appliance from Newport is in attendance for scene safety and arrived at the scene at the same time as ambulance crews at 15:30.
Traffic is heavy in all directions and motorists are advised to continue to avoid the area. Police are directing traffic.
Recovery of the car has been arranged.
UPDATE @ 15:57 – The vehicle has now been recovered by Bartletts Service Station and traffic is beginning to flow more freely in the area.
Thankfully, no persons have been conveyed to hospital.
