Firefighters and paramedics have been called to a residential road Binstead this lunchtime (Thursday) where a Toyota has flipped onto its roof. The incident has occurred at the bottom of Binstead Lodge Road where it meets Ringwood Road. A Toyota Yaris Hybrid has collided with a Kia Sportage, resulting in the Yaris being flipped onto the pavement. The occupant of the Japanese motor is being assisted from the vehicle by firefighters, who are using cutting gear to extricate them. 1 pumping appliance from Ryde and another from Newport have been mobilised to the scene, alongside an ambulance crew, an Enhanced Care Paramedic and an Operational Commander from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service (IOWAS). Emergency services were called at around midday. The road has been closed between Stonelands Orchard and Meadowbrook and is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
UPDATE @ 12:40 – A casualty has been successfully extricated from the upside-down vehicle and is now in the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and en-route to St Mary’s Hospital. The injuries sustained are not thought to be serious. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is now standing down from the incident, with Newport’s wholetime appliance already released. Firefighters have used stabfast to stablise the vehicle and battery-powered cutting gear to remove parts of the vehicle’s structure. The road is expected to reopen following recovery of both vehicles.

Probably because its a hybrid, having heavy batteries in the floorpan make it bottom heavy, reducing stability.
Actually, a lower centre of gravity improves stability.
Better not have big porky people in your car then….
‘Bottom heavy’, i.e. lower c of g, makes a car more stable.
Lmao nerd, this is why motorcycles always fall over, because they have a lower centre of gravity.
battery type cars are more stable than mot due to the very low centre of gravity, it’s the drivers that are the problem
My god were you actually educated, if so then ask for a refund.
Don’t take up yacht designing ExtraD !!
Lmao, simple experiment, know why the ancient egyptians arent around anymore? Because their pyramids are bottom heavy, too unstable for society.
I’m guessing you sidestepped physics at school, and most other subjects, by the looks of it!
This is why planes drop out of the sky when their engines fail, because the engines on the wing undersides, very unstable
Hey ExtraDense how thick can you get, always posting idiotic replies.
All it does is show us how uneducated you really are hahaha
Rolled over for a sleep.
William the keyboard warrior making jokes about RTC’s again, there are shaken/injured families behind these cases you comment on. Unintelligent and unhelpful comments at that. As long as you find yourself funny!
How can you be going fast enough to flip over in such a small road?
Exactly. Someone was driving like an idiot.
I was expecting to read fire service from Freshwater attended and Ryde hadn’t
