UPDATED: A car has come to rest on its roof after flipping on Middle Road near Chessell this morning (Tuesday).
It is thought that icy conditions between Chessell and Tapnell have played a part in the crash, which occurred at around 06:30.
Firefighters and a Co-Responder from Freshwater are attending the incident alongside Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
No one has been seriously injured in the incident but the female driver of the Renault Clio is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital as a precautionary measure.
The road is closed and motorists are being diverted.
Meanwhile on the other side of the Island, Police have closed Bully’s Hill/Brading Downs Road due to the icy conditions. Another Renault Clio has crashed into a hedge on the descent off The Downs into Brading.
UPDATE @ 11:20 – The casualty, a 26-year-old woman, has sustained a cut to the head and a badly bruised thigh but is otherwise uninjured.
