Firefighters from Ryde have tackled a car fire in the car park of Firestone Copse near Havenstreet tonight (Wednesday).
One appliance was sent to the scene at around 21:00 after the vehicle, a Citroen AX, was set alight.
According to witnesses the car was driven over a mound before getting stuck in the mud. The driver is then said to have smashed the vehicle’s windows before setting it on fire.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have dowsed the flames and brought the fire under control before it could spread to any nearby srubbery or woodland.
Police are in attendance at the scene.
