UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending a car fire on Shanklin Road on the outskirts of Shanklin this morning (Monday).
One appliance from Shanklin Fire Station was mobilised to the incident between Whitely Bank and Victoria Avenue at around 08:00 following a 999 call.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using a hose reel to extinguish the small fire, which has broke out in a Nissan Micra at the junction with Apse Manor Road.
Southern Vectis are advising of delays to their Route 2 buses as a result of the incident.
Motorists are being diverted locally.
UPDATE @ 09:00 – The incident has been brought to a close. The road has reopened in both directions.
