Firefighters from Newport have tackled a car fire in Merstone this afternoon (Thursday).
It was just before 12:50 that the white Audi A6 burst into flames off Merstone Lane.
1 fire appliance was mobilised to the scene by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, with the single crew using breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the blaze.
It appears the fire began in the engine bay.
The blaze is now out and recovery of the burnt out vehicle is being arranged.
Merstone Lane remains open as usual with the wrecked vehicle located on a private, unnamed road.
