UPDATED: A car has lost control and come to rest with its front wheels overhanging a drop outside a residential building in Ryde tonight (Wednesday), prompting a large response from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
3 appliances from Ryde and the rescue tender from Newport are currently in attendance at a block of flats on East Hill Road where a silver Mercedes has come to rest inches away from a basement level window.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at just gone 20:20 due to fears the car was going to tip over the ledge and into the building.
UPDATE @ 20:55 – The vehicle has now been stabilised by fire crews and the disabled female driver has been helped from the vehicle.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have checked the woman over but thankfully she has escaped injury.
Firefighters are now standing down from the incident, however, 1 appliance remains on scene.
UPDATE @ 21:30 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has now left the scene with all appliances returning to station.
