A 42-year-old man has been arrested and bailed by Police after a Ryde woman returned home to find the man in her living room.
Officers were called to George Street on Saturday after receiving a 999 call from a 37-year-old female reporting she had apprehended and detained a man inside her home.
Police were quick to arrest the 42-year-old on suspicion of aggravated burglary having been caught in the act, however they believe a second man was also involved and that the pair had tried to break-in to another property just a few doors away.
According to Police, a second male was seen to enter the flat but it’s believed he had gone before the woman returned home. The two men got in through a lounge window and had previously tried to kick in a communal door at another set of flats just a few doors away.
Investigating officers believe the pair were targeting a different property, but entered the wrong address. Nothing was stolen.
The 42-year-old man has been bailed pending further enquiries until Thursday 14th May.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the burglars or anyone acting suspiciously in the area to come forward.
