UPDATED: Island Line trains between Ryde and Shanklin have been suspended this morning (Tuesday) due to a broken down train near Sandown.
Trains are currently unable to operate on the service between Ryde St Johns and Shanklin. This is expected to continue until 12:00 extending journey times by up to 30 minutes.
A shuttle train service is said to be in operation between Ryde Pier Head and Ryde St Johns.
Local buses have been requested to serve all stations on the Island Line and those with valid Island Line tickets are able to use Southern Vectis Route 2 and 3 buses.
UPDATE @ 13:36 – Due to the earlier break down and current poor rail conditions caused by adverse weather, Island Line services remain suspended.
A shuttle service is operating between Ryde Pier Head and Ryde St. John’s, however no further services are expected to run today while track repairs take place.
Island Echo understands an electrical problem this morning resulted in damage to the track when the train’s wheels ‘kept spinning’.
Tickets are being accepted on bus routes 2 and 3, and taxis are in place.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – Island Line services are running to a normal timetable today following the completion of repair works.
