Tourists and locals alike were left bemused when a driver attempted a 3-point turn on the single track road out to The Needles Battery yesterday afternoon (Friday).
It’s unclear why the driver of the Ford Focus thought it was a good idea to turn their vehicle around on such a narrow road, which has a 300ft drop to the left hand side.
It’s been suggested that the individual realised they weren’t permitted to drive up to the Battery and decided to head back to Alum Bay.
Southern Vectis’ Needles Breezer bus came across the blockage shortly before 13:30 – and the bus was most certainly not going to turn around.
By 14:15 the blockage had been cleared and the Breezer bus was able to continue on its normal route.

Poor woman,must have been embarrassing.

Should the Driving Test include an intelligence assessment?
Makes you wonder how some people ever passed a driving test. His insurers might be asking some very awkward questions.
There’s always one !
Wow that was breath taking news!!
Should have to take theory test every ten years. Include an IQ test. Score less than 100, no licence.
Absolutely brain dead dumb, not to mention incredibly dangerous too. There is a concrete passing bay only a few yards further on as well.
Should be banned from driving
Parking like this ensures th absolute best view!!!..
