Brading Town Youth Under 16s squad have taken victory in the Mid Solent Youth League, despite there still being a couple more games to play.
The local side went into Saturday’s match against Havant’s Widbrook United Youth U16 Storm with an unbeaten record of 10 games. That record wasn’t broken as Brading took a 6-2 victory over the visitors.
Brading’s U16s cannot be caught now with a fantastic 15 point lead, meaning the trophy is firmly secured in their hands. Their nearest rivals are defeated Widbrook United and East Lodge U16 Mustangs, who are both on 15 points a piece.
It’s said that Brading have achieved a league first by being the first Island team to win the competition in the first year of entering.
Brading’s next fixture is away to Whiteley Wanderers U16 Lions on Saturday, followed by a home match against Waltham Wolves U16 Giants on 19th May.
