Bomb disposal experts were deployed to Wootton earlier today (Tuesday) amid concerns that potentially explosive items had been discovered at a residential address.
It was 09:40 this morning that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was made aware of a concerning situation developing at Mary Rose Avenue, with genuine fears that a number of potential suspicious items had been located inside a property.
As a precaution, Police called in the specialist military support of the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Portsmouth, who conducted on scene investigations.
However, it has been confirmed that nothing suspicious has been located at this time.
The Royal Navy has now stood down from the incident but Police officers remain on scene this evening, accompanied by Crime Scene Investigators.
