BODY DISCOVERED IN SEARCH FOR MISSING FRESHWATER MAN ALAN SOUTER

Officers searching for missing Freshwater man Alan Souter have discovered a body this morning (Friday), Police have confirmed. As previously reported by Island Echo, a missing person appeal was launched to find the 62-year-old yesterday with the Freshwater native last seen onboard a Southern Vectis bus in the village on Monday afternoon (8th April). Since search efforts began, HM Coastguard crews from both Needles and Ventnor as well WightSAR – the Island’s voluntary search and rescue team – worked round the clock to locate Alan. It has now come to light that this morning at around 08:00, a body was discovered at Freshwater Bay. Formal identification has not yet taken place, but his family have been informed. A file has been prepared for the coroner.
