UPDATED: Fire crews are this afternoon (Friday) attending a boat fire incident in Cowes.
Two appliances from Newport Fire Station were called to the scene at Town Quay shortly after 14:00 following a request from HM Coastguard.
Solent Coastguard were notified of a fire on board a 26ft yacht at Town Quay just before 14:00 and alerted the Cowes Harbour Master and the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
The boat was towed to a jetty near to the Red Jet Terminal by the harbour master before fire crews boarded the vessel.
UPDATE @ 14:30 – It is understood the fire has been extinguished, however firefighters are using a thermal imaging camera to assess the yacht for any hotspots.
No one has been injured, however paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are in attendance. A fire officer from Newport is also attending the scene.
UPDATE @ 14:45 – Fire crews have left the scene and have returned to station.
