Ryde Inshore Rescue went to the aid of a boat that lost its engine overboard in the middle of the Solent earlier this evening (Saturday).
Solent Coastguard tasked Ryde Rescue 1 to aid to the casualty vessel, with 2 persons on board, shortly before 17:25.
Island Echo understands the outboard engine of the small boat came loose and fell off the rear, only staying attached by the connected fuel line.
Ryde Rescue towed the boat to the Royal Victoria Pontoon in Fishbourne where the volunteer lifeboat crew rendezvoused with Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team.
Safety advice was given by Coastguard officers to the man and woman on board the boat following what was their first trip out.
Rescue teams have since returned to station. The boat is safely moored up.
