UPDATED: Police have closed Newport Road (Middle Road) between Elm Lane and Chessell this evening (Saturday) due to a vehicle which has overturned and come to rest in a hedge.
A black BMW 3-Series has landed on its roof in the incident, which has resulted in the driver suffering a minor head injury.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 22:30.
Southern Vectis have tweeted to say that the 22:50 Route 7 has been affected by the closure. This service will divert through Gunville, Shalfleet and Station Rd to Wellow, not serving stops from The Waverley to Wellow Rd.
UPDATE @ 00:15 – The vehicle has now been recovered by Bartletts Service Station.
The road has reopened in both directions.
